Eastern Bangkok with a low density feel
Saphan Sung is one of the eastern districts where canals and low density housing still shape the streets. It is mostly residential, with homes, schools and estates rather than a single urban centre. The quiet is appealing for families. The price is a dispersed routine and a strong dependence on cars, buses and motorcycle taxis.
The district has three khwaeng, Saphan Sung, Rat Phatthana and Thap Chang. It borders Khan Na Yao, Min Buri, Lat Krabang, Prawet, Suan Luang, Bang Kapi and Bueng Kum, which explains why the same district name can describe several different commutes. Ramkhamhaeng Road and Thap Chang are the practical reference points.
Wat Lat Bua Khao, Triam Udom Suksa Nomklao School and Ramkhamhaeng Hospital 2 are local landmarks. Homes near the main roads are easier for errands. Homes deeper in the estates are calmer but need transport for almost everything.
My verdict
I would choose Saphan Sung for a family with an eastern routine. I would not rent here for a central office. Its best feature is domestic quiet, and its central compromise is the journey out.
