The green and commercial east
Prawet is an eastern Bangkok district of housing estates, major roads, shopping and open space. Suan Luang Rama IX and Seacon Square are the names most outsiders recognise, but the practical choice is between busy road frontage and quieter estate streets. It suits families and workers based in the east more than central commuters.
The Yellow Line serves the Srinagarindra corridor, while motorways and local roads remain important. The line does not make every estate walkable. Check the feeder journey, parking and the school route. Prawet is often comfortable once inside a development, but the road outside can be loud and difficult to cross.
The district offers useful retail and roomier housing than the inner city. Its compromise is a dispersed routine. You may have a large mall, park or school nearby, but not necessarily a pleasant walk between them.
My verdict
I would live in Prawet with a family and an eastern commute. I would not choose it as a central Bangkok base. Its strengths are practical, green and domestic.
