Makati CBD

Metro Manila

The established financial centre is polished, service-rich and relatively easy to navigate on foot in its core.

The short version

Makati CBD is Metro Manila’s established financial centre, and its strengths are accumulated rather than theatrical. Greenbelt, Glorietta, Ayala Triangle, offices, hospitals and restaurants form a useful daily constellation. In the core, errands can be done on foot. A few blocks away, the shade, crossings and traffic change quickly, so a listing that says Makati still needs a street level inspection.

The CBD is more than a tower district. Salcedo and Legazpi Villages bring trees, smaller streets, cafés and weekend markets close to the business core. Poblacion is nearby but has a different rhythm, with late dining and bars rather than a quiet office day. Treat these as separate choices even when a portal groups them under Makati.

Getting around

Ayala and Buendia on MRT 3 are the clearest rail access. MRT 3’s official station list places both on the EDSA corridor. From there, the last part of the journey is often a walk, jeepney, bus or ride hail. Office hours are the test: a map distance says little about the crossing or the queue.

Who fits here

The CBD suits people who want services outside the front door and can accept density. It works particularly well for a first Manila landing because the geography is readable and the commercial infrastructure is mature. Those wanting a garden, quiet roads or a low rise local setting should look beyond the towers.

My verdict

Makati remains one of the safest practical bets for a newcomer who values convenience over novelty. I would choose a building after testing the walk at night and in rain, then decide whether the premium buys time rather than merely a more impressive lobby.
