The short version
Wat Bo is one of the more appealing close-in alternatives to the Old Market: east of the river, anchored by the temple, and generally quieter once you leave the central crossings. It has boutique accommodation and local homes side by side, rather than a single neat housing market.
The river is a useful mental boundary. It keeps the old centre close, but turns a two-minute line on a map into a route that depends on the bridge, traffic and the time of day.
A calmer central base
The area has enough activity to feel connected, without the concentrated nightlife of Pub Street. That makes it worth considering for people who want cafés and restaurants within a short ride but do not need them at the end of the lane.
The temptation is to call it quiet. Better to say that it has quieter pockets. Temples, hotels, building work and narrow residential lanes all coexist here, so the address needs inspecting in person.
Practicalities
Tuk-tuks are the normal answer for heat, shopping and journeys across town. A bicycle can work for short distances in favourable weather, but should not be assumed from an attractive map view. The river-side setting does not remove the familiar town questions about drainage, access and nighttime noise.
Look for a building with the mundane details in order: shade, water, a usable entrance and a landlord or manager who can deal with a repair. Those are more predictive of a good stay than a polished photograph.
Would I live here?
Yes, for a central home with a little separation from the visitor core. I would not choose it blindly as a tranquil enclave; the character is mixed, and the exact block remains decisive.
