The short version
Diliman is a greener, more spacious part of Quezon City shaped by UP Diliman, government institutions, schools and established residential streets. It does not feel like Makati or BGC. The attraction is the possibility of a more ordinary daily rhythm while remaining inside the metropolis.
The Academic Oval and the university campus provide the area’s clearest green reference, but Diliman is not one uniform campus neighbourhood. Streets around Commonwealth, Katipunan and Quezon Avenue have different noise and traffic profiles. A home that looks close to the university on a map may still require a difficult crossing or a vehicle for routine errands.
Getting around
Quezon Avenue on MRT 3 is the most useful rail connection, followed by a road transfer. Katipunan has universities and cafés but no rail station inside the area. Bus and jeepney routes remain important. This is a good place to live when work and school are in the north or east, less so when every morning points to BGC.
Would I live here?
Yes, for someone who values trees, institutions and a less corporate city texture. I would choose the route to groceries and the daily destination before choosing the house. Diliman’s strength is room to breathe, but its geography still belongs to Metro Manila.
