A slightly more relaxed companion to Thong Lo, with independent venues and a busy BTS frontage. Convenient, but still shaped by traffic.
Walk to railEkkamai (BTS Sukhumvit)
Ekkamai is the slightly less polished companion to Thong Lo: a long soi running north from Sukhumvit, with cafés, restaurants, small venues and a more mixed residential fabric behind the BTS frontage. It is not quiet, but it generally feels less concentrated than its fashionable neighbour.
The station and eastern bus terminal make Ekkamai useful for both city trips and onward travel. Farther up Soi 63, the distance from the BTS becomes more important than the neighbourhood name; motorbikes, taxis and building shuttles fill the gap. Ekkamai is a sensible choice for someone who wants Upper Sukhumvit amenities without living directly in the densest nightlife strip.
Sukhumvit Soi 63 runs north from BTS Ekkamai toward Phetchaburi Road
The eastern bus terminal makes Ekkamai a useful regional transport point
Side streets become more residential, but the main soi remains traffic-heavy
