The short version
The area around Institut Teknologi Bandung has the energy one expects of a major campus: students, small food businesses, boarding houses, bookshops and busy informal meeting places. It is central enough to be useful beyond university life, yet its daily rhythm is unmistakably academic.
That makes it a good choice for people who enjoy a lively, walkable pocket of the city, particularly students, visiting staff or anyone whose work is close by. It is less persuasive for someone seeking a quiet family enclave or a large amount of private outdoor space.
Living beside the campus
Jalan Ganesha and the surrounding streets provide the framework, but the better question is how far a particular home is from the busiest entrances and food strips. A few blocks make a real difference to noise and to the ease of getting a car in and out. The district also runs into Dago, Coblong and Tamansari without a clean change in atmosphere.
The advantages are ordinary ones: plenty of inexpensive places to eat, people about at most hours, and a short trip to other central districts. The costs are equally ordinary—parking, delivery traffic and a street life that will not suit everyone.
Would I choose it?
For a campus-linked routine, very readily. For anyone else, it depends on whether the liveliness feels like company or intrusion. This is one of the places in Bandung where visiting at lunchtime tells you more than reading a description ever will.
