Andir sits between the airport side and the historic centre, with local commerce, compact housing and routes built for movement. It is a practical west central address, not a carefully packaged lifestyle district. The attraction is access to several parts of Bandung. The compromise is that major roads and transport approaches are always close.
Living between routes
Husein Sastranegara Airport is officially located in Cicendo, immediately beside the Andir side of the western city. The wider rail history also names Andir among the areas around Bandung’s railway facilities. These are useful markers of the area’s role: it is connected to arrivals, departures, warehouses and through routes, not only to local homes.
The residential lanes are the reason to rent here rather than in a hotel corridor. They can feel much quieter than the main approaches, but the street width, parking and drainage vary. View the property on foot from the main road. If a car cannot pass comfortably or a ride hailing driver cannot find the entrance, the central location will not compensate.
Getting around
Andir has no rail station in the area record, despite its proximity to railway infrastructure. Angkot, buses, taxis and ride hailing remain the practical modes. The airport side is useful for some journeys, while trips across the city are traffic dependent. This is a place where being near a route and being able to move along it are different things.
Andir suits locally employed households, airport or transport workers and people who prefer a dense, service rich setting. It is less suitable for anyone seeking a large home, a leafy view or a quiet international enclave. The local character is a strength if you want to be part of ordinary Bandung life.
Would I live here?
Yes, on a back street with a clear parking arrangement. I would not choose a home on the busiest approach simply for the convenience of the postcode. Andir is useful because it is unpretentious. You should rent it for its connections and local texture, not for an imagined calm that the roads cannot provide.
